Jane Prendergast has been making art ever since her first finger painting at playschool. In fact, most of her big life decisions have been made around her love for art and being an artist.
Born and bred in County Wexford, Jane feels lucky to live in a county that quietly champions creativity. Growing up with the Wexford Opera Festival, Art in the Open, and a strong network of galleries and arts centres meant she was never without inspiration, and that art felt like a natural part of everyday life, worth pursuing.
She graduated from Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design + Technology in 2024 with a First Class Honours BA in Art. Her graduate exhibition became an early career milestone when the OPW acquired two of her paintings.
A devoted letter writer for nearly a decade, Jane values personal post as a way of slowing dow
n and connecting, without the pressure of seeking likes from an audience of followers. Her studio walls are lined with the postcards she has collected over the years, a reminder of the people she cares about. As an art lover, there’s nothing she appreciates more than a personal message on a postcard of an artist’s print. Not only is it exciting to receive but it also exposes her to new artists and concepts.
