A colossal fight or a giant typo?! Legend has it that the stunning Poisoned Glen got its sinister name when the ancient one-eyed giant king, Balor, was killed here by his grandson, and poison leaked from his eye which split the rock and poisoned the glen. However, it is probably more likely that the name is the result of a cartographic error. Locals knew the place as An Gleann Neamhe (The Heavenly Glen), but when the area was being mapped by an English cartographer, he spelt the name wrong when he recorded it as An Gleann Neimhe (The Poisoned Glen). Whatever the etymology, this painting is beautiful!
